Comic Books, Women, and the Word of God: Adapting Jewish Texts with Feminist Significance into Graphic Novels
Tuesday, May 23, 2023 — In this session, Talia Hurwich will provide a brief overview of the breadth of comic book and graphic novel adaptations of the Bible and rabbinic writings.
Many educators use graphic novels in the English and Social Studies classrooms to engage students in reading literacy. They also can be used very effectively to benefit student religious literacy. The powerful and eye-catching stories found in graphic novels appeal to students while also successfully demonstrating lived religious traditions.
