This Special Issue (SI) explores the theoretical and practical implications of integrating technology in religious and moral education, teaching about religion and ethics, and other initiatives for fostering religious literacy.
This issue will explore how and to what degree religious diversity is being taught in K-12 social studies classrooms and included in official school curricula and teacher education programs.

In this session, Michael Graziano will provide a brief overview of the “Iowa Religious Literacy Program,” which provides professional development opportunities to Iowa public school teachers through addressing specific local religious literacy concerns.

Chapter proposals are invited for an edited volume Religious Literacy in the Public Sphere. This book project will explore:
what religious literacy means and looks like in different contexts;
why religious literacy matters in today’s social and political landscapes;
how to endorse the development of religious literacy in the public sphere.
